Couple of early thoughts? Do not practise without a ‘Ground Stick’ to indicate ‘Target Line or Initial Ball Flight Line’. This simple device helps us orient to linear performance. Golf loves this approach to ‘Ball Control’. When this endless or constant need arises and you do not own a ground stick or left yours at home in the garage, you can use a long-shafted Hybrid or Fairway Metal in a pinch.
Want some flexibility that uses two very common tools? “Yes, of course!”
You remember our ‘Putting ‘Heads or Tails Drill’? Press a bright new penny slightly into the ‘Putting Surface’. Set your golf ball on the penny … the one you ‘Black Sharpie’ marked. Should also have two ‘Red Dots’. Initially place the black line pointing directly at the ‘Far Target’. One can make small adjustments for ‘Break’ just before addressing you strike and roll.
Once you have this ‘Ball Rolling Line’ marked, adjusted for ‘Break’, place a second penny 15 inches in front of the ball, closer to this ‘Far Taret’. It is called the ‘Intermediate Target’. Your ‘555 Team’, as mentioned, refers to this as your ‘Initial Ball Rolling Line’.
Remember, we are substituting this for a formal ‘Ground Stick’. Why is this a great ‘Pre-Shot Routine’ asset? It is cheaper! I have seen two ground sticks selling for around $25.00 … special discount! Not very! This mentioned method costs ‘Two Pennies’ you can retrieve!
What else is good about ‘Two Pennies’? You can see both pennies at the same time! Making this very simple, all you have to do is roll your ball over the penny with adequate ‘Weight or Force’ to get to the hole. Essentially, simplistically, every putt is just 15 inches!
A Work Smart technique that has no cost but makes good things happen? Just before ‘Triggering Your Take-Away’, close your ‘Target Eye’. This will enable a ‘Steady Head’ and instill ‘Trust’. Your ‘Brace Eye’ can see both the ball and the Intermediate Target penny simultaneously using ‘Peripheral Vision’. Proven technique! Worth a try!
