These two acronyms are well known to you, our ‘555 Global Family’. They mean ‘Bottom Of Swing Arc’ and ‘Angle Of Attack’.
When we ‘Set-Up’ (Posture, Grip, Stance, Ball Location & Alignment) in a ‘Deep, Flat & Wide, Sweeping Take-Away’ profile, brushing the grass will very likely be our ‘BOSA’ outcome. If nothing or very little changes in our ‘Pivot Posture’ (Knee Flex) and ‘Lever Assembly or Triangle Lengths’ (Shoulder Sockets, Upper Arms, Elbows, Forearms, Wrists, Hands and Golf Club), we should reliably ‘Sweep & Pinch The Grass in the Front Swing Path and Plane’. (see ‘DOFT’ – Down Out Forward & Through)(see ‘Brace Leg Drive’) Thus we often hear our students saying “Sweep Sweep” or “Deep Deep”. (see ‘Trigger Words’)
If we get to the ‘Top Of Back & Up Swing’ (TOB) and strike very down with our ‘Golfing Machine’, our golf club might strike the ground quite at the outside of our Brace Shoe’. This would produce a ‘Steep Descent’ or ‘Steep Angle Of Attack’ striking the grass very aft of the ball. (see ‘Fat’) If we flattened the AOA, we will strike the grass closer to the golf ball. Even a flatter Clubhead Path might cause us to ‘Top The Ball’. (see ‘Thin’) Can you envision how important a proper ‘Set-Up’ is to our goals and happiness?
Really proficient ‘Driver Strikes’ demand and enjoy a good balance of ‘BOSA & AOA’. Now you are better informed and shall be more capable of making solid strikes happen reliably!
Well done!
