It is worthy of note that ‘Ball Location’ is one of our ‘5 Set-Ups’. (Posture, Grip, Stance, Ball Location & Alignment) It is also germane that there is no golf procedure or swing made anywhere in the entire world, with any club, that does NOT have all of these ‘5 Set-Ups’.
These ‘5 Set-Ups’ ooze with sensibility and effective benefits … creators of happiness!
Think of the ‘Human Golf Body Machine’ with its ‘Lower & Upper Aspects’. Think of the ‘5 Axes’ … 1) Feet, 2) Knees, 3) Hips, 4) Shoulders and 5 Eyes and Ears. Our Spinal Column (Human Crank Shaft) supports ‘The Upper Body Machine’ or ‘Lever Assemblies’. (Primary Lever Assembly … Shoulder Sockets, Upper Arms, Elbows, Forearms, Wrists, Hands and the actual Golf Club’ which is the ‘Secondary Lever’ or tool. The ‘Target & Brace Hands Control, Support and Transport The Clubhead’. (not unlike the head of a big framing hammer!)
Let’s get ourselves situated, effectively standing on the grass. If our two feet are about 12 to 16 inches apart, our ‘Sternal (Vertebral) Center’ will be about mid-stance. Let us recognize our ‘5 Axes’ are standing on or above our ‘Body Line’. The ‘Ball Location’ can be ‘Sternal’ (centered) ‘Brace Up or Target Down The Line’. Those are the only three options.
Depending on the length of the ‘Golf Club’ (Lever Assemblies), our distance away from or behind the ball will vary from about 12 to 14 inches for short and 18 to 20 inches for long shafted clubs.
Finally, the third dimension is how high the ‘Ball Location’ is above the grass or ground as when it is teed-up. An important note is that the higher the ball is teed up the farther forward (Target- ward) it will need to be in order to get in the way of the ‘Speeding Sweet Spot’. With a normal ‘Bottom Of Swing Arc’ (BOSA) our driver strike shall be ascending. (Struck on the upswing) How do we orchestrate that reality? With a forward ‘Ball Location’ as required.
Well done! You now know the ‘Three Dimensions’!
