Just had an impromptu golf swing clinic. We have them all the time. A golfer and I happen to enter into a golf conversation. I am known on our golf course. People are quite forward about saying “Hello!” when they have an issue. Another and then two more join in. We grew to five! That is a little ‘Impromptu Clinic’.
‘Mastering Golf Basics’ (MBG) and ‘Focus On Fundamentals’ (FOF) never changes substantially. We humans are very similar in components and procedures.
How simple can I make your basics? Let’s see. We have our ‘555 Golf Powerline Delivery Sequence … ‘Accumulate, Load, Store, Deliver & Release’ (ALSDR). That is the Start to finish! From the Take-Away (SS#1), to Top Of Back Swing (TOB – SS#5 – Maximum Load & Store), Transition or Direction Change (SS#6 – The Lateral Bump), to the ‘Pre-Impact’ (SS#7) and Impact (SS#80, then to the Chase (SS#8a, to the Follow (SS#9) to the Finish and Top Of Front Swing (SS#10) to an optional Bounce Back (SS#11) is you so desire. That is ‘IT’! Do this in ‘Slow Motion’.
How about simpler? With a little ‘Forward Inclination’ – Weight slightly on the balls of your feet. Brace Hand Palm on your ‘Target Pec’ with the Target Hand Palm across and onto your Brace Biceps. Keeping your eye on an imaginary ball so as to keep your Head and Upper Spine Stable, simply ‘Turn Your Brace Shoulder Back & Up’ until you feel some snugness. This is the ‘ALS’. In ‘Slow Motion’!
Condition #2 is the ‘Transition’ whereby you plant or move ‘Mass or Weight onto your target Heel. We refer to this as ‘The Lateral Bump’. When you accomplish this ‘Move’ your target Hips and Shoulders will drop and move slightly forward or what we refer to as ‘Down & Out’. Keep turning through the ‘Impact & Separation Zone. (Delivery) Keep going to and through to your ‘Target Post’ (Release)
What is next? Do the same sequence with your ‘Target Lever Extended’. With no Brace Side to the Swing Triangle, you will feel slightly balance vulnerable. Just get to the TOB. Now reach up with your ‘Brace Lever Assembly and take hold of your ‘Target Thumb’. You have stability. Next, add a golf Club (#6 or #7 Iron) and you are a perfect, professional looking golfer! Finish the original Sequence and Hold that ‘Posted Target Position’ at your Top Of Front Swing (TOF) while ‘Breathing Out’.
