The proper use of ‘Vocabulary & Terms’ in golf conversation is really important! If we fail to get ‘Vocabulary & Terms’ correctly applied, for our own use or that of a group discussion, we will, in effect, be talking in a foreign language that unavoidably causes us to become ineffective. No point for engaging in idle golf chatter? There has been and is a lot of it going around!
I just opened my e-Mail Tab, which I have to do twice a day, and arrived at a friend’s golf video tips. I always view such material very carefully based on science. Mr. Newton is always globally reliably and beneficial! He has earned our respect!
Talking about the mechanics of ‘Set-Up’ (Posture, Grip, Stance, Ball Location & Alignment), my friend used the term “Closed” under the known broad and general ‘Set-Up Topic’. He did not define vocabulary and terms with any specificity. That was needed!
“Closed” applies to ‘Grip (Clubface Aim), Stance (Foot Aim) and Alignment’ (Target & Body Lines … Railway Tracks Analogy).
He just said to “Line Up A Little Closed” to help with making efficient golf swings. His inference was that “A Little Closed” would help mature golfers increase their ‘Back & Up Swing, Load-Coil Range Of Motion’. The goal was ‘More Distance’.
Does a ‘Closed Clubface Aim’ increase ‘Distance’? Does a ‘Closed Stance’ increase ‘Distance’? (Your 555 Team knows that a ‘Closed Brace Foot Aim’ impedes ‘Hip Release’ and thus reduces ‘Clubhead Speed’ and ‘Distance’.) Does a ‘Closed Alignment’ tend to increase ‘Distance’? Does a ‘Closed Alignment’ invite the ‘Target Hip’s Clearing’ or getting out of the way of the ‘Advancing Brace Hip’ and ‘Pelvic Girdle’? If NOT, this promoted ‘Closed Component Topic’ could hamper ‘Delivery & Release’ of the golf ball on the ‘Pre-Selected Line’!
‘Vocabular and Terms’ matter?
