It has been offered by a substantial number of instructional authorities that “A Faster Back & Up Swing Produces More Ball Speed and thus More Total or Net Carry & Roll Distance.”
We must recognize that simply striving for more ‘Clubhead and Ball Speed’ is a ‘Fool’s Formula’. It invites a more common than desired ‘Soft Tissue Collision’. Our ‘13 Primary Articulating Joints’ (PAJ) do not like negative torque or high velocity ‘Start, Stop and Go’. That ‘Human Musculo-Skeletal Train Wreck’ this sport medicine teacher has referred to in the past.
Swing Sequence #5 is the ‘Top Of Back & Up Swing’ (TOB), where our Clubhead Sweet Spot Velocity is ‘ZERO’. Simple direction-change demands and produces this ‘Potential and Kinetic Energy profile’ reality. (see ‘Transition’)
If ‘ZERO Velocity At TOB’ happens and we stay there for a Three Count, we shall experience a momentary ‘Zero Kinetic Energy Condition’. We shall also have a defined ‘Potential Energy’ situation that is momentarily stationary or stopped.
If we keep the Hammer Down (see ‘Throttle Pressure’) we shall actually ‘Run Into and Bounce Off The TOB Wall’. This event naturally creates ‘Compression and then Restitution’. This is what happens to the golf ball through the ‘Impact & Separation Zone’ … Golf Ball get squished into a flatness (Oblate Spheroid) and then springs back into its original roundness.
Our Upper Body Machine can specifically ‘Bounce Off Of The TOB Wall’. (see ‘Spring Back’)
If one can tolerate this ‘Bounce Collision Event’, We can actually create and control ‘Collision Energy’, whereby, the faster we strike the wall, the greater might be our ‘Bounce Back’, hence ‘The Faster The Back & Up Swing, the greater might be the ‘Restitutional Launch’, Clubhead Energy & Ball Speed’ as mentioned above. Note, this demands consistent fitness and skill. A patient ‘Transition’ may be a more efficient option? (see ‘Transition Trigger’)
