Your ‘555 Golf Team’ advice is to NOT overdo your golfing activity. With a very broad caveat, one’s body has only a finite number of ‘Procedures’ in it. When you use all those strikes, something usually has to give! If one has a great ‘Full Bag Warm-Up’, ‘Chip & Putt’ for a few more minutes and go home or to the first tee!
What are known goals and limits for all of us?
Importantly, as often spoken by my friend and mentor ‘Pipeline Moe Norman’, we need to master the ability to work our ‘Upper Body Machines’ (UBM) separately from our ‘Lower Body Machines’. What does this mean? He invites our ‘Boss Shoulders’ to rotate around our ‘Spinal Crankshaft or Core’. We know that we wind ‘From The Top Down’ and ‘From The Outside In’. (see ‘The Balsa Airplane Concept’) Coiling your Shoulders takes place properly without altering original ‘Posture’. (Spinal Configuration) Our Hips (LBM) do NOT winde up our Shoulders’. (UBM which includes our ‘Lever Assemblies’.)
Fitness matters to golfers. We need to strengthen our engine core (abs, lats, glutes, hamstrings and Quads). Our ability to stabilize our spine angle (Tether Ball Pole) during the swing is directly proportional to the strength & stability of the core. Obviously, ‘Clubhead Orbit Stability’ is dictated by ‘Core Stability’. Learn and use ‘Core Drills’ in your warm-up phase!
In order to rotate around a ‘Stable LBM’ we need good ‘Scapular or Shoulder Stability’. Our Hip Girdle’ must be rock solid. This allows us to get the club into key positions without altering our ‘Spinal Pitch’. (see ‘Aft Tilt and Forward Inclination’) Pitch dictates Clubhead orbit and ‘Angle Of Attack or Approach’. (AOA … steepness or shallowness)
Golfers with limited Shoulder to Pelvis differential, often suffer from ‘Weak Cores’. They usually have to make ‘Pitch’ compensations to deal with swing limitations. The ‘Outcomes’ are loss of power and inconsistent ball flight … ‘Higher Scores and Smaller Smiley Faces’!
